FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: fully solidified continuously cast blank (3) in the form of a slab or thin slab is passed through a device (6) for cutting and discharging along a roller table in the feeding direction (7) into a finishing rolling mill. The device (6) contains shears (9), a lifting device (11) and a discharge device (8). In the event of an accident, the following steps are carried out at the casting-rolling plant: a) a segment (21) is cut by the shears (9) from the cast slab (3), b) the segment (21) is clamped by a clamping device (23), c) the rear part of the segment is lifted (21) from the roller table by the lifting device (11) when the end of the segment (21) is pulled in the direction (7) from the shears (9), d) a portion is cut by the shears (9) from the continuously cast blank (3) passing therethrough the segment (10), e) the segment (10) is discharged from the roller table by means of the discharge device (8) and the segment is removed (21) until continuous casting and rolling process is restored. Reduced length of the device (6) makes it possible to reduce the length of the casting-rolling plant.
EFFECT: operational reliability of the casting-rolling plant due to elimination of continuous casting process interruption in the event of an accident in the area of said plant after the device.
