FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: connection system includes a fibre-optic connector and a fibre-optic adapter. The fibre-optic connector comprises a connector housing having a coupling end; a lock mounted on the coupling end of the connector housing, wherein the lock is made movable between a closed position and an open position; and a fixing device carried with the connector housing. The fixing device is made movable between a locked position, wherein the fixing device holds the lock in the closed position, and the released position, wherein the lock is able to move from the closed position to the open position. In this case, the lock is hingedly attached to the connector housing on a hinge axis located at the top of the connector housing. Moreover, the lock comprises a lever actuator protruding upwardly from the lock housing when the lock is in the closed position. In this case, the fixing device is located at the bottom of the connector housing. The fibre-optic adapter contains a port for receiving a fibre-optic connector. The fibre-optic adapter comprises the first means for moving the fixing device of the mentioned fibre-optic connector from the locked position to the released position, when the fibre-optic connector is inserted into the port, and the second means for moving the lock of the mentioned fibre-optic connector from the closed position to the open position, when the fibre-optic connector is inserted into the port.
