FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to distribution devices with incrementally added splitters. Disclosed optical fibre distribution hub comprises a base and an outer cover; an inner cover covering the cable area with a nondetachable connection and a cable extending from the inter-floor cable, and a connector that extends from the nondetachable connection and is interfaced with an adapter. Connector is selectively connected either to the output connector via an adapter to provide an output for serving an individual subscriber, or to a splitter which includes a plurality of outputs, each of which comprises an output connector connected to the adapter. Splitter comprises an input connector for interfacing with the adapter. Disclosed method of using the optical fibre distribution hub includes the following steps: providing a base, an outer cover and an inner cover covering the cable area with a nondetachable connection and a cable extending from the inter-floor cable; providing a connector that extends from a nondetachable connection and is interfaced with an adapter. Single output connector can be connected to the connector via an adapter, providing an output for servicing an individual subscriber, as well as removing the single output connector from the adapter and replacing it with a splitter. Splitter comprises a plurality of outputs, each of which is provided with an output connector connected to the adapter. Splitter comprises an input connector for interfacing with the adapter.

EFFECT: need for efficient ways of handling extremely long cables, taking into account space constraints.
