SUBSTANCE: method comprises the steps of: a) providing a dentin surface image containing the dentin tubules, interchannel areas and surface defects located in the interchannel areas; B) converting the majority and minor histograms into binary form; C) joining and filling adjacent pixels associated with the minority histogram; D) obtaining the third data set representing the dentin tubules on the dentin surface; and e) quantifying the occlusion of the dentin tubules by determining one or more parameters selected from the following: the total number of the open tubules, the percentage of the total area of the image occupied by the open tubules, the number of the open tubules per unit surface area of the image, the average diameter of the tubules, the mean radius of the tubules and the average perimeter of the tubules.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of quantitative determination of blocked dentin tubules.
