FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: for complete gas tamponade of the vitreous cavity, after vitrectomy or plugging substance removal, the fluid is replaced with a gas-air mixture. The aspirated liquid is collected into a measuring syringe, thus measuring the volume of the vitreal cavity. Ports are removed, if necessary, stitches are applied to the puncture sites. In a measuring syringe, gas C3F8 is taken in a ratio of 1:4 to the measured volume of the vitreal cavity and, using a cannula, gradually injected into the lower third of the vitreous cavity.
EFFECT: complete vitreal cavity tamponade with the least expenditure of octafluoropropane gas by using a pure substance without causing such complications as increased intraocular pressure in the postoperative period.
