FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: method for decorating a panel includes feeding a ceramic panel onto a carrier; the stage of placing the panel on the carrier; carrying out at least a first printing stage by means of a first printing unit and carrying out a second printing stage by means of a second printing unit; wherein in order to obtain the decorated panel, the first and the second printing stages are carried out in accordance with a predetermined relative position and in which, during and between the first and the second printing stages, the panel is retained in the substantially fixed position with respect to the carrier. Each of the first printing unit and the second printing unit comprises a head selected from an ink jet print head, a valve print head, and a pigment spray head, and in which one of the first and the second printing stages comprises printing a basic decorative pattern on the panel, and the other of the first and the second printing stages comprises printing a curable substance on the panel to create a textured surface. The method additionally comprises curing the curable material. The device for manufacturing the decorative panel includes a carrier for supporting the panel; a lock for retaining the panel in a substantially fixed position with respect to the carrier; a decoration printing unit for printing a decorative pattern on the panel; a relief printing unit for printing a curable substance to form a textured surface; a control system for moving the carrier, the decoration printing unit and the relief printing unit relative to one another, configured to control the amount of the material applied by the printing units. The control system is equipped with a memory for storing the decorative pattern coordinates used for moving the carrier, the decoration printing unit, and the relief printing unit with respect to one another, and wherein each unit from the decoration printing unit and the relief printing unit comprises a head selected from an ink jet print head, a valve print head, and a pigment spray head.
