FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: railway wheel is heated to the austenitizing temperature, immersed in the quench tank to a depth up to the starting point of rim transition into the disc, and cooled while the railway wheel is rotated simultaneously, then tempering is carried out at 450-550°C. The hardening medium temperature in the tank is 15-30°C, hardening process lasts for 100-250 seconds, and the wheel is rotated with frequency of 90-150 rev/min.
EFFECT: improved mechanical and performance properties.
