SUBSTANCE: device comprises a transparent polymeric material, a substrate embedded in the transparent polymeric material, an antenna located on the substrate, a sensor and a sequence generator configured to dynamically generate a unique identifying sequence that is based on the process changes in the components of the sequence generator. Also, the device comprises a controller electrically connected to the antenna and configured to: (i) receive a request signal indication via the antenna, (ii) output a substantially unique identification sequence in response to the request signal; and (iii) use the antenna to communicate a substantially unique identification sequence, (iv) in response to the message of the substantially unique identification sequence, use the antenna to receive a device-specific indication associated with the eye-mounted device. The device-specific information contains user-specific information for the operation of the eye-mounted device, and (v) the operation of, at least, one sensor in accordance with the user-specific information.
EFFECT: possibility of associating the eye-mounted device with the device-specific information without storing information in a programmable memory device included in the eye-mounted device.
