FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: use to create an electrochemical sensor. Summary of the invention is an eye-mounted device for measuring concentration of analyte in tear film contains a transparent polymer material having an eye facing and an outwardly facing surfaces, the transparent polymer material is removably mounted in front of the ocular surface; a base coat at least partially embedded within said polymeric material; an antenna located on the base coat; two-electrode electrochemical sensor disposed on the base coat and including: main electrode having at least one dimension less than 25 micrometers; and comparison electrode having at least five times the area of the main electrode; and a controller electrically connected to the electrochemical sensor and the antenna, the controller is made with the possibility for: (i) applying a voltage between the main electrode and comparison electrode sufficient to generate amperometric current connected with analyte concentration in fluid influence of which the eye-mounted device is subjected; (ii) measuring this amperometric current and (iii) using the antenna to output the measured amperometric current, wherein a part of the transparent polymer material at least partially surrounds the main electrode and the comparison electrode, so that the electric current carried between the main electrode and the comparison electrode passes through this at least partially surrounding part of transparent polymer material.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of detecting the concentration of oxygen and/or other analytes in the tear film.
