SUBSTANCE: plumbing appliance comprises a tubular housing having an inlet for connection to an inlet discharge pipe and an outlet for connection to an outlet discharge pipe. The inlet and the outlet each are configured to facilitate the upgrading of the existing discharge pipe system with the appliance. The plumbing appliance additionally comprises a check water valve located in the tubular housing, a check air inlet valve mounted on the portion of the tubular housing. The check water valve is located in the normally closed position and is designed to provide sewage flow from the inlet to the outlet and to limit the flow from the outlet to the inlet. The check air inlet valve is located in the normally closed position and is designed to provide air flow to the tubular housing and to limit the air flow from the tubular housing. The check air inlet valve is located on a boss located on the upper portion of the tubular housing, the air inlet valve comprising a cylindrical rim sized to fit tightly into the boss and a valve disc mounted at the lower rod end. The rod is mounted vertically slidable in a spider device extending radially inwardly from the cylindrical rim.

EFFECT: protecting the discharge pipe system from both negative and positive pressure at the outlet.
