FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of manufacturing the catalyst includes: homogenizing the porous inorganic refractory oxide material, molybdenum trioxide, in finely divided state in the form of molybdenum trioxide particles with a maximum size less than 0.5 mm, compounds of nickel and phosphorus oxide (V) (P2O5) in a solid finely divided state in the form of particles having a size of 10 to 500 mcm, to produce a mixture; forming a particle from the said mixture; and calcining the said particle to produce a calcined particle. The catalytic composition for hydroprocessing a hydrocarbonaceous feedstock comprises a calcined particle comprising a homogenized mixture prepared in the above manner. The catalyst composition is particularly useful for hydroprocessing a heavy hydrocarbon feedstock containing sulfur, nitrogen, metals such as vanadium and nickel in significant concentrations, as well as microcarbon residues.
EFFECT: composition exhibits an exceptional nitrogen removal activity and has a low production cost due to the fact that it is not an impregnated catalyst.
