SUBSTANCE: encoder for encoding coefficients (Y(k)) of frequency conversion of a harmonic audio signal includes the following elements: a location determinant for spectral peaks having values greater than a predetermined frequency dependent threshold. An encoder of the peak areas including and surrounding the detected peaks. A low-frequency coefficient set encoder is outside the peak areas and below the transition frequency, which depends on the number of bits used to encode the peak areas. A noise level enhancement encoder configured to encode a noise gain coefficient of, at least, one high frequency set of still unencoded coefficients outside the peak areas.

EFFECT: improving the quality of the encoded harmonic sound signal.
