SUBSTANCE: in one example, the method for operating an engine is disclosed, in which under a first condition the adjustment of a first operating parameter of the engine and a second operating parameter of the engine is alternated depending on the required value of vacuum in intake manifold of the engine and under a second condition the first operating parameter of the engine is reduced with subsequent reduction of the second operating parameter of the engine, the first condition is the first value of the generator output current, and the second condition is the second value of the generator output current, wherein the first value of the generator output current exceeds the second value of the generator output current.
EFFECT: possibility to maintain the engine output torque at a level that provides good road qualities of an automobile and driver comfort when creating vacuum by the engine.
