SUBSTANCE: system comprises, at least, one fuel tank (20) comprising a plurality of interconnected compartments, an opening adapted to allow introduction of atmospheric air. The opening comprises a ventilation channel (42) connecting each of the interconnected compartments, and a ventilation box (34) connected to the vent channel (42). The ventilation box (34) receives the introduced atmospheric air and the nitrogen-enriched air (NEA) source connected to the ventilation box (34) and configured to supply the NEA to the ventilation box (34) in such a way as to mix the NEA with the introduced atmospheric air, thus to provide a mixture of NEA/introduced atmospheric air.
EFFECT: reducing the flammability of a mixture of gas and fuel vapour.
