The label comprises a plurality of label elements (12). The label provides information on the basis of at least one absolute position of at least one label element (12) on the cartridge (13), the relative position of at least one label element (12) relative to at least one label element (12), the presence or absence of at least one label element (12) in a predetermined position, the depth of at least one label element (12) on the cartridge (13), the width of at least one label element (12), and the change of the depth or width of at least one label element (12). The device for applying labels on the cartridge (13) of the ammunition contains at least one pressing means (10) configured to selectively performs a recess in the circumferential surface of the bottom (20) of the cartridge (13) in the radial direction for the formation of at least one label element (12). The device is configured to perform the method.

EFFECT: invention provides an opportunity for effective labelling the ammunition through a durable and reliable label.
