FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method of preparing a heat-resistant hydrophobic platinum catalyst for the low-temperature hydrogen oxidation reaction, including the application of platinum at room temperature from the impregnation solution of hexachlor-platinum acid H2PtCl6⋅6H2O in the mixed solvent of acetone and mesityl oxide containing 10-90% of mesityl oxide, on the hydrophobic carrier granules γ-Al2O3, preliminary processed with the emulsion of dimethyl siloxane. After soaking in the impregnating solution, the carrier is dried and reduced with hydrogen. The pore size of the carrier granules is not less than 500 Ǻ.
EFFECT: preservation of the hydrophobic properties and high catalytic activity of the catalyst at a temperature of not less than 573 K.
