FIELD: technological processes; chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of separating hydrogen isotopes by countercurrent chemical isotope exchange (CIE) of hydrogen with water and can be used in processes of detritisation of water wastes formed at nuclear and thermonuclear facilities, as well as in production of heavy water. Described is a method of producing a hydrophobic platinum catalyst for isotope exchange of hydrogen with water, consisting in the application of a solution of hexachloroplatinic acid in acetone on a copolymer of styrene with divinylbenzene, followed by drying the support with the applied acid and reducing platinum with a stream of hydrogen at high temperature, wherein during synthesis of copolymer modifying additive is used in form of ortho-xylene at concentration of 1–5 wt.%, and before impregnation with acid carrier is blown with air flow. When synthesizing the support, the concentration of ortho-xylene is preferably 2.5 wt.%. Before impregnation with hexachloroplatinic acid, the carrier is blown with an air flow for 5 hours at temperature of 115 °C.

EFFECT: obtaining a catalyst for the process of CIE hydrogen with water, having high catalytic activity.
