FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: method includes the initiation of plasma arc between a nonconsumable ring electrode of plasmotron and workpiece, supply of consumable electrode in welding zone through the axial hole of conductive tip installed inside the nonconsumable ring electrode on its axis, and excitation of arc between the electrode and the workpiece by DC consumable electrode arc power source. Plasma arc power is performed by two-level current from the power source of plasma arc with current value switching between low and high levels depending on the axial immersion depth of consumable electrode into plasma, namely critical depth or the specified depth.
EFFECT: use of the invention makes it possible to improve the quality of welded joints by ensuring the stability of the joint combustion of plasma and arc discharges.
