SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a locking device (6) for locking the household appliance (1) door (5), comprising a locking member (27) for mechanical locking of the door (5), a drive member (20) for moving the locking member (27) from the unlocked position, in which the door (5) is not locked, to the locked position in which the door (5) is locked by the locking member (27), depending on the electric current (I) flowing through the drive member (20), wherein the drive member (20) is electrically connected to the DC voltage source (12), a switching element (22, 23), electrically connected to the drive member (20) to control the flow of electric current (I) through the drive member (20) and the control device (25) for controlling the switching element (22, 23), wherein the control device (25) is configured to supply a switching element (22, 23) with at least one control pulse (30) for controlling of the electric current (I) flow through the drive member (20). Locking device (6) comprises means for the DC voltage (VZK) actual value (V) recording generated by the DC voltage source (12), wherein the control device (25) is configured to set the control pulses (30) duration (w), depending on the actual voltage (V) value.
