FIELD: chemical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the production of pentaphthalic alkyd resins, which are the basis for the production of semi-finished alkyd varnishes used in the production of pigment paints, enamels, primers, etc. Method is a two-step process used in the treatment of vegetable oils, in which, at the first stage, the oil is interesterified with pentaerythritol, and at the second stage, the polycondensation reaction of the interesterified product obtained at the first stage with phthalic anhydride and maleic anhydride is carried out, wherein at the interesterification stage a vegetable oil, preliminarily partially polymerized to a viscosity of 30 s (according to VZ-4 viscosimeter) is used, after which the second stage of the process is carried out at a temperature of 225–235 °C, with an exposure time of about 6 hours.

EFFECT: technical result is the improvement of the process of production of alkyd resins, reduction of the temperature of the reaction mass at the second stage and reduction of the time of the second stage, which contributes to significant energy savings and a reduction in the cost of production.
