SUBSTANCE: invention relates to process for preparation of diene polymers or random vinylarene-diene copolymers. Process for the preparation of diene polymers or random vinylarene diene copolymers includes anionic (co)polymerization in the presence of at least one hydrocarbon solvent, at least one conjugated diene monomer and optionally at least one vinylarene, in the presence of at least one lithium initiator, at least one aprotic polar compound and at least one compound containing one or more acetylene type functional groups selected from compounds of general formula (II): R₂–(C≡C–H)_n (II), where R₂ is a hydrogen atom or is selected from linear or branched C₁-C₂₀ alkyl groups, C₃-C₂₀ cycloalkyl groups, C₆-C₂₀ aryl groups, wherein said alkyl, cycloalkyl and aryl groups optionally contain one or more heteroatoms such as oxygen, nitrogen, silicon, and n is an integer from 1 to 10.
