SUBSTANCE: socket with device for arcing fault circuit interruption (AFCI), catching and breaking parallel arc faults upstream, contains switching element coupled between a linear and neutral wires in the socket. The socket also contains a voltage sensor and a current sensor. Parallel arc fault upstream is detected by the detected voltage drop and the absence of a corresponding current increase. After the arc fault is detected, the switching element closes, wherein the current flows through the switching element having relatively lower resistance, interrupting the power supply through the arc fault. A closed switching element results in a current overload condition that initiates the opening of a conventional thermomagnetic circuit breaker upstream.

EFFECT: ensuring reliable protection of the socket from a parallel arc fault upstream.
