SUBSTANCE: system contains a linear wire and a neutral wire. The circuit breaker is connected to an AC source via the linear wire and the neutral wire. The electrical outlets are connected to the circuit breaker via the linear wire and the neutral wire. Each of the electrical outlet devices has a neutral short-circuiting switching element included between the linear wire and the neutral wires, and a load control switching element in the linear wire. Each of the electrical outlet devices also includes an outlet controller for controlling the switching elements. The socket controllers close the neutral short-circuit switching elements, and the main controller detects a high impedance to detect a sequential arc short circuit. The socket controllers open the load control switching elements, and the main controller detects the current presence in the linear wire to detect a parallel arc short circuit.

EFFECT: providing arc detection using impedance measurements without the need for the circuit calibration.
