FIELD: agriculture; wood-working industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to forestry. Method is that at the age of 15–20 years in the artificial or natural plantations of European spruce trees having high class of bonitet (Ia–II), target trees which will be part of the final felling stand are selected. Trees shall be straight, healthy, with a good shape of the trunk and a uniformly comprehensively developed crown. These trees shall be located uniformly over the area and do not have large branches and knots. On the selected trees, in order to maximize the production of valuable wood using a rod-type pole sow, a 3-way cutting of branches and knots is carried out to a height of 2 m, in 5 years – to 4 m, and in next 5 years – to 6 m. Thus, by the age of 25–30 years, a 6-meter knot-free zone of the butt-log portion of the trunk shall be formed, with at least 8–10 upper live whorls left in each tree.
EFFECT: method provides an improvement in the resonant properties of European spruce.
