FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: optical method for measuring the field of transparent glacier thickness on wind generator blades consists in illuminating the transparent glacier and capturing the image of the distorted light ring formed on the surface under the glacier as a result of total internal light reflection at the glacier-air interface by video camera. When the method is implemented, the surface of the blades is covered with a plurality of light reflecting elements which, when illuminating the glacier, form a plurality of light rings on the blade surface. The position of each light reflecting element on the surface of the blades is clearly defined, a synchronization module with a moving surface that transmits information about the current phase position of the blades to the module of storage and phase averaging of results is also used.

EFFECT: measurement of the field of transparent glacier thickness on the wind generator blades with a low measurement error.
