FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to device for correcting deformation and fixing of the spine during its surgical correction and the method of its application. Dynamic device for correcting the scoliotic deformity of the spine includes longitudinal and transverse rods, screws and hooks for fixing the vertebrae with the elements for fixing the rods and the attachment points of the rods to each other. Each longitudinal bar has average portion, cranial and caudal ends, and can be made integral or assembled from separate parts. In case of longitudinal bar, it is entirely made of material with shape memory. In case of longitudinal rod being made, a caudal end is made from a material with a shape memory, at least, its caudal end. Middle section of the longitudinal rod is straight, and the cranial and caudal ends are bent in the same plane in different directions, while the bends are made along the parabolic curve y = Kx2, where x is the distance from the corresponding end of the middle section of the longitudinal rod, and y is the deviation of the ends from the axial line of the middle section of the longitudinal rod. Parabola coefficient K for the caudal end of the rod is 0.25–0.35, and for the cranial end of the rod it is 0.001–0.0015. Method of applying the above dynamic device for correcting the scoliotic deformity of the spine involves fixing the vertebrae with screws or hooks, installing longitudinal rods in the fastening elements of the screws or hooks and tightening the fastening elements. Before installing the longitudinal rods, they are cooled to a temperature below the transition temperature into the martensitic state of the shape memory material and the rod or part thereof, made of a shape memory material, is bent according to the shape of the deformed spine. Curved longitudinal rods are installed in the fastening elements of screws and hooks and tighten only one fastening element closest to the center of the longitudinal rod. After that, the longitudinal rods are irradiated with a warm sterile solution at a temperature above the transition temperature into the martensitic state of the shape memory material and after restoring their shape, the other fastening elements of the screws and hooks are tightened, after which transverse rods can be installed.
EFFECT: invention provides reduction in traumatic nature of the device and the risk of complications associated with instability of the device and the development of the syndrome of the adjacent segment of the spine.
