METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ELIMINATING DEFORMATIONS OF SPINAL COLUMN AND PELVIC BONES Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61H1/00 A61H15/00

FIELD: medicine; manual therapy.

SUBSTANCE: method and device can be used for eliminating deformations of spinal column combined with deformations, and shifts in pelvis bones and pelvic ring. Device has clamping rest for sacrum, for wings of iliac bones, traction/de-rotation unit provided with rest for vertebra and base for correcting members. Pelvic bones are subject to correction till they achieve their anatomical position. Then body of vertebra is subject to traction, which vertebra is disposed a bit proximal to cranial part of base at cranial direction in the beginning of primary arc of deformation. Then pressure is performed due to compression onto rest for vertebra of device in later direction to longitudinal axis of vertebra-breathing segments of area of deformation followed by subsequent fixation of achieved correction by vertebra-pelvic orthesis if needed. In particular, in case of scoliotic deformation accompanied by members of rotation, the pressure is applied to lateral appendix of rotated vertebra disposed on side of rotation. Pressure can be also applied after traction onto dorsal surface of aristae and lateral appendices of shifted vertebra. When physiological lordosis of back area is reduced, pressure is applied to area of 1, 2, 3 sacrum vertebras and to vertebras of thorax-back department. If lordosis is higher than standard one, pressure is applied to area of 4, 5 sacrum vertebras and to thorax vertebras of hyperkyphosis. When mobility of vertebra-rib joints is limited, pressure is applied to head part or neck of rib or ribs joined with vertebra. Device for realization of the method has support for patient, correcting members and base for correcting members, which base is mounted onto support for patient. Base for correcting members is mounted onto support by means of posts to be adjusted. Correcting members are made in form of rest for sacrum, rest for wings of iliac bones and traction/de-rotation member provided with rest for vertebra. Rest for sacrum is made in form of plank, which has on one side the recess for crest of sacrum bone, and on the other side there is axial cylinder provided with openings for lever and holes for adjusting screws. Rests for wings of iliac bones are made in form of braces with arm-pieces provided with openings for adjusting screws. Traction/de-rotation unit provided with rest for vertebra is made in form of double telescopic case, where beam is mounted. One end of beam has hinge holder of removable rest for vertebra; the other end has threaded connection with telescopic case, and handle. Base for correcting members is made in form of profiled plate with two branches for being placed above iliac bones. It also has one central branch. Branches have slots for adjustable posts. Central part has openings for axial cylinder, adjusting screws of plank and protrusion for connecting telescopic case by means of hinges. Openings for mounting rests of wings of iliac bones are made in both branches to dispose above iliac bones. Rest for vertebra is made in form of rod. There is removable press-in rest at one end pf rod; there are removable adjustable plates provided with holes for back-lower surfaces of lateral appendices of vertebra, hole for vertex of aristate appendix and protruding rest for caudal part of aristate appendix of vertebra at the other end. Support for patient has rows of nests for adjustable posts; support for patient has loose fillers.

EFFECT: improved efficiency of treatment; elimination of deformation in pelvic bones vertebras; liquidation of compression syndromes; restoration of anatomy and biomechanical abilities of vertebra segment.
