SUBSTANCE: unit of a railway car absorbing apparatus comprises a housing, a friction clutch, a spring seat, an elongate spring, an elongate guide rod, and a structure installed inside the housing to prevent the longitudinal displacement of the rod during the operation of the absorbing apparatus. The method of assembling the absorbing apparatus includes placing the spring seat in a chamber, retaining the spring seat in the raised position relative to an opening, inserting a number of elastomeric pads in the chamber, releasing the pad seat from the raised position relative to the opening, compressing the spring; introducing the elongate guide rod through the centered opening in the spring seat and through a generally centered opening of each pad, releasing the spring with ensuring its location and retention in the housing, fixing the opposite end of the guide rod inside the housing and bringing the friction clutch into the working combination with the open housing end.

EFFECT: increasing the workability of the absorbing apparatus.
