SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the verification field of portable consumer devices. Verification token is connected to the computer via the USB connection in order to use the network resources of the computer. Verification token reads the identification information from the user's portable consumer device and sends the information to the validation check entry via the communication network using the computer's network resources. Validation check object applies one or more validation check tests to the information, which it receives from the verification token. If the selected number of tests is passed, the validation check object sends the verification value of the device to the verification token and, optionally, to the payment processing network. Verification token can enter the verification value of the device in the CVV field of the web page displayed on the computer display, or it can display the value to the user using the computer display.

EFFECT: technical result is increased security of financial transactions, when using portable consumer devices (for example, the credit card).
