SUBSTANCE: computer system executes one or more virtual machines and programs a physical network device with one or more rules that control network traffic for virtual machines. The computer system also programs a network device for controlling the network traffic using these rules. In particular, the network device is programmed to determine the availability of one or more physical queues in the network device that can be used to process network streams for virtual machines. The network device is also programmed to identify network streams for virtual machines, including identifying the characteristics of each network stream. The network device is also programmed to specify one or more network streams of at least one physical queue on the basis of the characteristics of network streams and on the basis of the rules.
EFFECT: uploading network streams of virtual machines to physical queues of network hardware.
