FIELD: oil industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to remove oil and oil products from the surface of water and the surface layer of soil. Sorbent is granular. Diameter of the granules is 1-3 mm. Sorbent composition includes a magnetic filler in the form of a metal powder from oxides of Fe3O4 with a particle size of 5-10 μm, in an amount of 8-12%, lowland peat in an amount of 75-80% and atactic polypropylene in an amount of 8-17%. Lowland peat, before mixing, is dried at temperatures of 105, 120 and 150°C for two, one and half an hour, respectively.
EFFECT: sorbent possesses magnetic properties, high absorbing capacity and buoyancy.
