SUBSTANCE: method of manufacturing high-pressure gas-discharge lamps provides in the technological operation of "Lamp welding" the supply of moulding gas through a stem inside the lamp during moulding of the neck, as the moulding gas nitrogen is used which has a total quality indicator, which corresponds to optimal content of impurities, linked through the following relation:

where is the total quality indicators of nitrogen as moulding gas, % of volume.
EFFECT: increase in luminous flux, energy efficiency of high-pressure gas-discharge lamps by lowering the content of impurities in the moulding gas, entering the lamp during welding and moulding of the neck.
