FIELD: monitoring systems.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of gaseous medium regulating and controlling methods and means and can be used in process control systems. Proposed is a method for a gaseous medium regulating in a container containing combustible or toxic gaseous substance, including the creation of an inert atmosphere using an inert gas, according to the invention, in a container with a gas medium provided with a filling and emptying valve. According to the claimed method, combustible or toxic gaseous substance concentration measurement is carried out. When establishing the fact of exceeding the combustible or toxic gaseous substance concentration above its safe value, an overpressure is created by feeding an inert gas through the valve. Closing the valve, holding the container with the gaseous medium for a time sufficient to equalize the concentrations of gaseous substances within the container, opening the valve and discharge the gaseous mixture until the pressure inside the container and the ambient pressure are equalized. Then, the cycles of excess pressure of the gaseous medium in the container creating, holding to equalize the concentrations of gaseous substances within the container, equalization of the pressure inside the container and the ambient pressure are repeated with the multiplicity determined by the following formula:

where n is the number of repetitions of the container filling operation with an inert gas; [cB] is permissible (safe) concentration of combustible or toxic gas in the container; is concentration of the combustible or toxic gas in the container; ΔP is the inert gas pressure created in the container; P0 is initial pressure in the container.

EFFECT: technical result is provision of the most reliable establishment of the investigated gas medium state and timely and prompt warning or prevention of a dangerous situation.
