ARC-LET PLASMATRON Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC H05H1/24 H05B7/20 B23K10/00

Abstract RU 2646858 C2

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: arc-jet plasmatron has a case in which isolated from each other water-cooled electrodes, anode and cathode, are mounted co-axially. A plasma gas injection unit is located between them. An anode channel consists of a confuser and diffuser, made in the form of truncated cones, which are interconnected with their upper bases. The junction between the cones is made toroidal with the radius of generating circle r=4…8 mm. The angles at the vertices of the cones of the confuser and the diffuser are equal, respectively, α=80°…96° and β=38°…48°. The diameter of the smallest cross-section of the channel is D=15…18 mm. The cathode represents a copper water cooled cage with a refractory insert and has a truncated cone shape at the end with an angle at a vertex γ<α. The cathode is installed so that its conical section is located in the confuser of the anode, and the butt of its refractory insert is inside the toroidal junction. The injection unit of the plasma gas is an insulating sleeve located above the cathode cage before entering the anode channel. The sleeve has at least two rows of holes with the diameter d=0.4…0.6 mm. Each row contains at least 12 holes, distributed evenly along the circumference. The axes of the holes pass through the longitudinal axis of the plasmatron and are inclined to this axis at an angle δ=(45…60)°.

EFFECT: increase in the operating current of the plasmatron, increase in the productivity of the centrifugal spraying process, increase in the service life of the electrodes of the plasmatron, and ensuring the stable operation of the plasmatron in the current intensity range.
