SUBSTANCE: invention relates to digital information transmission and can be used in receiving devices of synchronous digital communication systems. Method for transmitting and receiving digital information in general comprises, at the transmitting side, converting the information symbol sequence to be transmitted into a stream of information unit elements, converting the information symbol sequence to be transmitted into a stream (collection) of redundant unit elements, merging the streams of information and redundant unit elements into a final stream of unit elements, converting resulting stream of unit elements into oscillations of a hydroacoustic or electromagnetic field, at the receiving side,converting the received oscillations of the hydroacoustic or electromagnetic field into electrical signals, according to the signal observed for the message reception time interval (MRTI) for each r-th information unit element of the message (r = 1…R is the sequence number of the information unit element in the message), the decisive statistics for the element-wise reception of information unit elements are calculated, according to the signal observed at the MRTI with respect to each k-th redundant unit element of the message (k = 1…K is the sequence number of the redundant unit element in the message), the decisive statistics are calculated for the element-wise reception of redundant unit elements, for each of the decisive statistics of element-wise reception of information unit elements, element-wise decision-making is implemented, for each of the decisive statistics of element-wise reception of redundant unit elements, element-wise decision-making is implemented, based on the sets of the decision-making results for each of decisive statistics of element-wise reception of the sequence of information unit elements and the solutions for each of the decisive statistics of element-wise reception of the sequence of redundant unit elements, the number of that set of results of forming decisive statistics of element-wise reception of information unit elements, which does not contain errors, the decision making operation on the fidelity of one of the hypotheses of the sequences of information unit elements is performed on the basis of the number of that set of results of forming decisive statistics of element-wise reception that does not contain errors.
