SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric traction of vehicles generated by linear motors. Electromagnetic rail drive with a third rail includes electromagnets attached to a trolley and switching devices of electromagnetic windings. In parallel to the rails of the railway track, a rail is laid on which rail poles similar to the electromagnetic poles are made. Near the pole of the electromagnet there are sensors for the position of the rail pole connected by their outputs to the inputs of the control device. Outputs of the control device are connected to the inputs of the switching devices, which connect the electromagnetic windings to the power supply. Output of the traction and braking control device is connected to the other input of the control device. Retainer having a pin is attached to the frame of the trolley near the electromagnet.
EFFECT: technical result is higher reliability and efficiency of the electromagnetic rail drive.
