FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for manufacturing a coating composition for a printing substrate. Method comprises mixing anionic non-porous particles of colloidal silica with a diameter of 0.5–150 nm and an aqueous dispersion of a synthetic polymer and / or polyaluminium chloride, as well as a binder solution. Resulting mixture is used to form a coating composition which is to be applied to a printing substrate material containing lignocellulosic fibres. Invention also relates to a coating composition comprising a binder, a dispersed cationic component derived from a synthetic polymer and / or polyaluminium chloride, and colloidal silica particles.
EFFECT: coating composition suitable for different printing methods and / or for printing using different printing inks is provided.
