FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: dextrin having a weight average molecular weight in the range of 250,000-200,000 Da and a solubility in the range of 50 to 85% is proposed. A method for producing mentioned dextrin is also provided. The method comprises introducing at least one granular starch into the turbo reactor and at least one acidic agent from strong acids, modifying the starch in mentioned turbo reactor, and recovering the starch. At least part of the step of the modifying reaction is carried out with a moisture content of 1 to 3% in starch, an amount of acid introduced from 0.003 to 0.020 moles of acid 1 kg of dry starch and the temperature of the turbo reactor from 160 to 215°C, preferably from 170 to 210°C. The obtained dextrin is used in the production of aqueous binder coatings.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain a dextrin with high solubility in cold water and high molecular weight.
