SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to experimental surgery, and can be used to assess the functional state of peripheral nerves after their microsurgical reconstruction with trauma during an experiment. Method includes one-sided modeling of trauma and microsurgical reconstruction on the common peroneal nerve of a rabbit. Then, a visual estimation and video recording or serial photography of toe digging amplitude is carried out during the examination of the inborn landing reflex in response to displacement of the animal's body vertically downward without support on the limbs. When registering the same amplitude of the foot toes on the side of the operation and on the intact contralateral limb, complete regeneration of the nerve and restoration of its functional state are analyzed.

EFFECT: simple and effective method of clinical control makes it possible to reliably estimate the functional state of the nerve in a long-term experiment.
