FIELD: nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to the designs for assemblies (fuel assemblies) of nuclear reactors. Fuel assembly of the nuclear reactor includes a head and a shank that are connected to each other by means of a cover, as well as a bundle of rod-type fuel elements that are placed in a cover by means of a grid and spiral spacing elements wrapped on the shell of each rod-type fuel element and fixed to its ends. Peripheral fuel rods in the bundle are made with spacing elements in the form of thin-walled tubes with through longitudinal slots, the spacing elements of the rod-type fuel elements of the peripheral row in the areas of contact with the cover have a predominantly oval shape in the cross section. There is also a method for manufacturing fuel assemblies.
EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to increase the reliability of the beam bundle separation in fuel assemblies.
