FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of fuel elements and fuel assemblies for active zones of fast neutron reactors with a liquid metal coolant. The fuel element for the reactor on fast neutrons includes nuclear fuel placed in a sealed container in the form of a thin-walled tubular shell made of steel and end parts, a spacing element wounded spirally with a large step on the outer surface of the shell and fastened to the ends of the fuel element on the end parts. The spacing element is made in the form of a tape twisted around the longitudinal axis.
EFFECT: reduce the metal intensity of the fuel element.
