FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inorganic chemistry and can be used in neuron capture therapy for cancer treatment, for purification of radioactive waste from long-lived radionucleotides 152Eu and 241Am, as energy-intensive additive to rocket fuel. Sodium borohydride in environment of glyme or diglyme is reacted with alkyl halide with sodium borohydride: alkyl halide ratio of 1:(0.22–0.67). Process is carried out first at temperature of 100 °C for 6–7 hours, and then at temperature of 162 °C for 12–13 hours. Reactor is cooled, liberated hydrogen is bleed. Solvent glyme or diglyme is distilled off on rotary evaporator. Water is added to residue, followed by concentrated hydrochloric acid dropwise to pH = 1–2. Mixture is left for 6 hours at 5 °C. Boronic acid formed is filtered off, triethylamine is added to solution to pH = 10, precipitate formed is filtered and washed with water. Precipitate into water is dispersed, stirred for 2 hours, filtered and air dried.
EFFECT: increase in conversion of target dodecahydododecaborate is achieved by eliminating borane loss from reaction mixture by evolved hydrogen, eliminating usage and release of toxic, flammable boron compounds.
