FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing fluoropropylene carbonate of formula (2): wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are identical or different and each denotes H or CH2F; at least one of R1, R2, R3 and R4 is -CH2F, by reacting a fluorinating agent with a propylene carbonate derivative of formula (1) in which X1, X2, X3 and X4 are identical or different and each denotes a hydrogen atom or -CH2Y, where Y is a (-OH) group; at least one of X1, X2, X3 and X4 is -CH2Y; and the fluorinating agent is a compound of a quaternary ammonium cation and a fluoride anion or a compound of formula (CH3CH2)2NCF2CFHCF3.
EFFECT: method is safe, has high output and is realised in a single step (one reactor).
