FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to firearms, namely a method for producing a ceramic insert for a barrel of small arms. Method of obtaining a ceramic insert for gun barrels involves preparing initial mixtures of ceramic powders and a temporary binder, molding by cold isostatic pressing in a mold with an elastic sheath and using a rod with a predetermined profile a rifling on the outer surface to produce a preform in the form of a tube, removing the temporary binder during the calcination, sintering and machining, herewith the core of the mold is made of a hard alloy based on tungsten carbide, the elastic sheath of the mold consists of two layers, herewith the hardness of the inner layer of the elastic sheath with a higher hardness is not less than 80 Shore A units at the difference in hardness indices of the inner and the outer layers of not less than 40 Shore A units, and the sintering is carried out by compression sintering in a nitrogen medium at the pressure of 5–7 MPa.
EFFECT: technical result provided by the invention implementation is a greater wear resistance of the mold, as well as a higher quality of the surfaces obtained during pressing, which simplifies further processing.
