FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: bit for rotary rock drilling includes bit housing having the crown mainly consisting of "matrix-particles" composite material that includes set of boron carbide particles distributed along matrix material from aluminium or aluminium alloy, and at least one cutting structure located on end surface of the bit housing. Matrix material from aluminium or aluminium alloy includes at least 75 wt % of aluminium, at least 3.5 wt % of copper and at least trace amount at least of one element of the group including iron, lithium, magnesium, manganese, nickel, scandium, silicone, stannum, zirconium and zinc. The above set of boron carbide particles comprises approximately 40 to 60 wt % of "matrix-particles" composite material weight, and matrix material from aluminium or aluminium alloy is approximately 60 to 40 wt % of "matrix-particles" composite material weight.
EFFECT: improved physical properties of the bit housing material; improvement of bit performance.
