FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a polypropylene composition intended for the production of cast articles and a method for production thereof. Polypropylene composition contains comonomer units derived from ethylene in an amount of 9.0 to 52.0 mol% and comonomer units derived from at least one C5-12 α-olefin, in an amount of 0.4 to 3.0 mol%, and content of the fraction soluble in cold xylene is at least 30 wt%. Polypropylene composition is a heterophasic propylene copolymer (HECO) comprising a copolymer of propylene (C) and an elastomeric copolymer (E) representing a terpolymer (T) of units derived from propylene, ethylene in an amount of 20.0 to 80.0 mol%, and C5-12 α-olefin in an amount of 0.1 to 1.5 mol%.
EFFECT: resulting composition has an improved balance between increased softness and impact toughness while maintaining a sufficiently high melting point to ensure thermal stability, for example, to obtain materials sterilised by steam treatment.
