FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a heterophasic propylene copolymer (RAHECO). Copolymer contains: (i) the matrix (M) representing C4-C12 α-olefin copolymer of propylene (C-PP), indicated C4-C12 α-olefin copolymer of propylene (C-PP) contains units derived from (i.1) propylene and (i.2) at least one C4-C12 α-olefin; and (ii) an elastomeric copolymer of propylene (EC) dispersed in said matrix (M). Elastomeric copolymer of propylene (EC) contains units derived from (ii.1) propylene and (ii.2) ethylene. Heterophasic propylene copolymer (RAHECO) has (a) melt flow rate MFR2 (230 °C), measured according to ISO 1133, ranging from 2.5 to 200.0 g/10 minutes; (b) total comonomer content in the range of from 12.0 to 35.0 % by weight; (c) content of the fraction soluble in cold xylene (XCS) determined according to ISO 16152 (25 °C) in an amount of from 10.0 to 40.0 % by weight; (d) total comonomer content of the fraction soluble in xylene (XCS) in the range of 50.0 to 90.0 % by weight. In addition, the propylene copolymer (RAHECO) corresponds to (e) the inequality (I):

where C2 (total) is the ethylene content [wt %] of the heterophasic propylene copolymer (RAHECO); C (total) – content C4-C12 α-olefin [wt %] heterophasic propylene copolymer (RAHECO). Method for preparing a heterophasic copolymer and an article is also provided.
EFFECT: heterophasic propylene copolymer has good mechanical properties and a low content of substances extracted in hexane.
