FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 2-(pyridin-3-yl)thiazoles represented by formula (III). Method comprises (i) cyclizing compound (I) with compound (II) to produce compound (III), in which (A) each R1 is H or (C1-C6) alkyl; (B) R2 is unsubstituted (C1-C6) alkyl and (C) R3 is H, wherein stage (a) is carried out in a polar protic solvent. Method further comprises halogenating said R3 to F, Cl, Br or I, in which the said halogenation is carried out in a polar solvent and the said halogenation is carried out at a temperature of from 0 °C to the ambient temperature.

EFFECT: technical result is a method of producing 2-(pyridin-3-yl)thiazoles as intermediates for the synthesis of pesticidal thiazole amides.
