FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring equipment and can be used for controlling the process of porous article production. In a method for evaluating porosity distribution within a porous article, such as a pleated filter, a tobacco plug or a cigarette, a digital image of transverse section of the article is obtained and the proportion of pores in the area for each of several identical sub-areas of the transverse section of the article is determined. Thus, several fractions of the pores are obtained in the area. Few pore fractions per area allow the evaluation of local porosity distribution within the transverse area of the porous article. Each subarea within which a pore area fraction is calculated covers at least one adjacent sub-area by 10–95 %.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of control over the porous articles.
