FIELD: satisfaction of human life necessities.

SUBSTANCE: method for manufacture of aerosol-forming rods that have specified values for porosity in cross-section and porosity distribution in transverse section, for application as aerosol-forming substrates in heated aerosol-forming products; while the method includes the stages at which: a continuous sheet of aerosol-forming material is provided that has specified width and thickness, the continuous sheet of aerosol-forming material is folded in the transverse direction regarding its longitudinal axis, the continuous sheet of aerosol-forming material is wrapped with formation of a continuous rod, the continuous rod is divided into many individual rods, values that characterize porosity in the cross-section and porosity distribution in the cross-section for at least one of the individual rods are determined, and one or more parameters are adjusted to ensure that the values for porosity in the cross-section and porosity distribution in the cross-section in subsequent rods is within the ranges of values specified for production of aerosol-forming rods.

EFFECT: enabled quality optimisation and reproducibility of smoking sensations and a possibility of adaptation of aerosol properties, such as the amount of nicotine delivery, for specific types of aerosol-forming devices or aerosol-forming systems.
